International Stenin Photo Contest Road Show Opens in Mauritius
11:59 03.03.2025 (Updated: 13:47 04.03.2025) With support from the Russian Embassy in Mauritius, several dozen of winning works from Bangladesh, the UK, India, Italy, Myanmar, South Africa, Spain, Syria, and Russia were displayed at Caudan Arts Centre in Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius.
An exhibition of winners of the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest was held for the first time in Mauritius.
The 10th anniversary season of the contest and its exhibition cover a broad range of topics, from the environment and social disturbances to the ethnographic and cultural diversity of the world and striking personal stories. Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mauritius Irada Zeinalova
opened the exhibition:
“Andrei Stenin was a good friend of mine. He worked with my husband in Donbass during that very trip that became his last. He was uncompromising in his work and profession. He always insisted that journalists must show what actually happens and concerns the public. This photo exhibition by young journalists today does exactly that," she said.
In turn, contest curator Oksana Oleinik noted that "expanding the geography of our road shows is not only an opportunity to showcase brilliant and striking works by our contestants to the world."
"We also seek new talented participants. We hope that next year, we will see young photojournalists from Mauritius among winners,” Oleinik said.
The international roadshow of the 10th Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest will continue in Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
