Egypt continues to struggle with high inflation. Facing a persistent foreign currency shortage and a prolonged economic crisis, Egypt is seeking an $8 billion loan from the IMF for economic stabilization.
Egypt will increase the minimum wage for public sector workers to $138.50 per month, aligning it with the private sector's minimum wage set in early February, according to Egyptian Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk.
The wage increase is part of a broader social protection initiative, with a total cost of $1.6-$1.7 billion, scheduled to begin in July.
In addition, a temporary relief package amounting to $692-791 million will be implemented from March to June. This includes increased funding for the ration
card system, aiming to support 10 million vulnerable families in March and April.
