Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky should not have killed US journalist and blogger Gonzalo Lira, who died in a Ukrainian prison last year, US billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk said on Saturday. Earlier this week, Musk accused Zelenskyy of killing the US journalist. There have been multiple reports of journalists dying in Ukraine. In January 2024, the US State Department confirmed the death of Lira in custody in Ukraine. According to a note from the US journalist, provided by his father to the Grayzone portal, he fell ill with bilateral pneumonia in prison in October 2023. Lira Sr. said that the prison administration had ignored his son's illness and concealed it from the family and lawyers. The father demanded that the US Embassy in Kiev intervene in the situation; however, the diplomatic mission made no efforts in this direction, he said.

Musk Says Zelensky Should Not Have Killed US Journalist Gonzalo Lira
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - In June 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Ukrainian authorities had literally tortured Gonzalo Lira in prison.
Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky should not have killed US journalist and blogger Gonzalo Lira, who died in a Ukrainian prison last year, US billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk said on Saturday.
Earlier this week, Musk accused Zelenskyy of
killing the US journalist. "Zelensky should not have murdered an American journalist. He did not even understand why that was bad," Musk wrote on X.
