Valentina Matvienko, Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council, highlighted the promising prospects for cooperation between Russia and Ethiopia in peaceful uses of nuclear energy on the eve of her official visit to the country. Speaking to Ethiopian publication Fana Media Corporation, Matvienko emphasized the ongoing development of several joint projects across various sectors.These include automotive manufacturing, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, food processing, transportation, information and telecommunications technologies, agriculture, and energy. Matvienko specifically noted the potential for collaboration in peaceful nuclear energy applications.She also pointed to long-standing successful cooperation between the two nations, expressing confidence that this partnership would continue to strengthen.Matvienko announced a planned meeting of the intergovernmental Russian-Ethiopian commission on economic, scientific, technical cooperation, and trade in St. Petersburg this year. She described the commission as the "driving mechanism" for the entire complex of trade, economic, and investment interaction between the two nations.A high-level Russian delegation, including federal ministers, deputy ministers, and heads of major state corporations, will participate in the meeting, holding individual discussions with their Ethiopian counterparts to advance the implementation of new projects.

Earlier, a delegation of the Federation Council of Russia, the upper house of Russia's parliament, led by Chairwoman Valentina Matvienko and including senators and representatives of 14 ministries and agencies, arrived in Ethiopia. The agenda includes meetings with Ethiopia's top leadership and the speaker of the Ethiopian Parliament.
Valentina Matvienko, Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council, highlighted the promising prospects for cooperation between Russia and Ethiopia in peaceful uses of nuclear energy on the eve of her official visit to the country. Speaking to Ethiopian publication Fana Media Corporation, Matvienko emphasized the ongoing development of several
joint projects across various sectors.
These include automotive manufacturing, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, food processing, transportation, information and telecommunications technologies, agriculture, and energy. Matvienko specifically noted the
potential for collaboration in peaceful nuclear energy applications.

"Ethiopia is one of Russia's most important, key partners in Africa," she said, highlighting Ethiopia's historical significance as the first African nation to establish official diplomatic relations with Russia 127 years ago.
