Recent weeks have seen significant military progress by the Sudanese army against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF): it has retaken almost all of Khartoum North, a city located on the right bank of the Blue Nile. Along with Khartoum and Omdurman, it forms the metropolitan area. Now, only the Kafouri neighborhood remains to be secured.
Sudan's Sovereign Council leader, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, declared on Thursday that there will be no negotiation or compromise with those taking up arms against the government, according to media reports.
"There will be no negotiation or compromise with those who have taken up arms against the state and the people," he declared.
The army chief vowed to continue its mission until every part of the country is "cleansed" of the RSF.

However, speaking during a visit to the Omdurman military area, located west of the capital Khartoum, al-Burhan emphasized the army's unwavering support for those who have fought alongside it in what he termed the "war of dignity."

"The army will not abandon those who took up arms to fight alongside it," al-Burhan was quoted as saying.

He further underscored inclusivity in Sudan's political future.
"They will be partners in any political project in the country. We will not exclude anyone," he reportedly said.
