ADDIS ABABA (Sputnik) - Putin and Trump held a phone conversation on Wednesday, which lasted almost an hour and a half. The leaders discussed issues related to the exchange of citizens between Russia and the US, as well as the situation in Ukraine, the Kremlin said.
The phone conversation between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump is a positive event and will contribute to the global agenda, Madagascan Foreign Minister Rasata Rafaravavitafika told Sputnik.

"We are following the development of international relations with great interest, and this phone call is, in a sense, a very positive event. I believe that there will certainly be a significant development in the situation, and moreover, we clearly saw this. Presidents Putin and Trump obviously have their own goals and interests, but we are absolutely confident that this will contribute to the agenda of international peace," the minister said.

The presidents also touched on other topics, including the Middle East peace process, Iran’s nuclear program, and bilateral Russian-American economic relations. Putin and Trump agreed to continue personal contacts, including organizing a face-to-face meeting.
