Tanzania and Burundi are implementing an agreement to build a 282-kilometer railway worth $2.15 billion, media reported.The road between the towns of Uvinza in Tanzania and Musongati in Burundi will connect the two countries and allow the landlocked Burundian town of Bujumbura to significantly reduce transport costs for its exports and expand bilateral trade ties, according to the media.The project is expected to take six years to complete. Funded by the African Development Bank, it allows Burundi to export agricultural products, primarily coffee, other goods, and passengers.According to Tanzania's Finance Minister Mwigulu Nchemba, the necessary financial resources for this project have been guaranteed.
