Last month, the head of state of Mali announced that by 2025, the Malian military industry will be fully established, featuring upgraded military infrastructure and new facilities. This development aims to enhance the armed forces' ability to ensure the safety of the population across the nation.
Malian President Assimi Goita emphasized the need for the Malian army to adapt its defense strategies to address security threats impacting both the country and the broader West African sub-region.
He aims for 2025 to be a year of "continuity and consolidation of military successes."

"The strengthening of military infrastructure, the acquisition of modern equipment, and continuous training of personnel have enabled us to maintain an operational and effective army in the face of persistent threats," Goita stated during a New Year's event with defense and security forces in Bamako on Thursday.

He further stressed that the Malian armed forces should "accelerate operational planning" and "prioritize a comprehensive approach to combating security threats" to sustain their military successes.
Furthermore, he highlighted collaborative efforts with neighboring countries.
"In this spirit, we have worked with our brothers-in-arms from Burkina Faso and Niger to establish a unified force within the Confederation of Sahel States," he said.
