At least 67 civilians have been killed in the city of El Fasher in the Sudanese region of North Darfur as a result of shelling by rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the Sudanese army's Sixth Infantry Division Command said on Monday. The army said this was the 10th mass murder committed by the paramilitary RSF in El Fasher. The Sudanese regular army and the rebel RSF have been fighting for control of the country since April 2023. The International Committee of the Red Cross said the ongoing hostilities in the country could lead to disease outbreaks and a fatal collapse of the healthcare system. Sudan's Ambassador to Russia, Mohamed Siraj, expressed hope in an interview with Sputnik in early January that the armed conflict would end in 2025.
