Indonesia's accession to BRICS will contribute to the further strengthening of the association's authority, Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergey Tolchenov said in an interview with Sputnik released on Monday. The most important thing is that Indonesia advocates a partnership based on mutual respect, pragmatism and openness, the ambassador added. Tolchenov added, "Taking into account that Indonesia is the largest economy and the most populous country in Southeast Asia, we hope that it will be able to meaningfully join in cooperation in all of these areas."As Russia and Indonesia celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations on Monday, Tolchenov told Sputnik, it is traditional to exchange congratulatory messages at the ministerial level on the occasion of the anniversary. Throughout the year, the countries will hold joint events dedicated to interaction and friendship between Jakarta and Moscow.

Indonesia's Accession to BRICS Will Increase Association's Authority, Russian Ambassador Says
08:19 03.02.2025 (Updated: 14:56 03.02.2025) JAKARTA (Sputnik) - Russia and Indonesia, which joined the BRICS economic association as full members on January 1, celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations on February 3, 2025.
Indonesia's
accession to BRICS will contribute to the further strengthening of the association's authority, Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergey Tolchenov said in an interview with
Sputnik released on Monday.
"We assume that Indonesia's accession to BRICS will contribute to the further strengthening of the association's authority, the consistent unity of the Global South and East in order to create a fairer and more balanced multipolar world order," Tolchenov said.
The most important thing is that Indonesia advocates a partnership based on mutual respect, pragmatism and openness, the ambassador added.
"Interaction within BRICS is multifaceted, covering not only the coordination of efforts on the global arena, but also such practical areas as economic cooperation, construction of an independent, sustainable infrastructure for mutual settlements, technology and innovation, space exploration, youth and sports exchanges, inter-party ties, and much more," the diplomat said.
Tolchenov added, "Taking into account that Indonesia is the largest economy and the most populous country in Southeast Asia, we hope that it will be able to meaningfully join in cooperation in all of these areas."
As Russia and Indonesia celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations on Monday, Tolchenov told Sputnik, it is traditional to exchange congratulatory messages at the ministerial level on the occasion of the
