WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - According to a memo sent to government agencies on Monday, the White House budget office has instructed a halt on grants, loans, and other types of federal financial assistance. This action could disrupt numerous programs and create confusion and concern among various dependent groups.
US President Donald Trump's executive order on the federal funding freeze has not been rescinded and remains in effect, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Wednesday.
"This is not a rescission of the federal funding freeze. It is simply a rescission of the OMB [Office of Management and Budget] memo. Why? To end any confusion created by the court's injunction. The President's EO's on federal funding remain in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented," Leavitt wrote on X.
