Digital Ethiopia 2025 is a strategy to transform Ethiopia into a prosperous and inclusive society by utilizing digital technologies to diversify the economy, create jobs (particularly in the digital sector), and integrate into global value chains.
The Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) today launched its online trading system and laid the cornerstone for a new 24-story headquarters.
The construction was launched by Ethiopia's Trade and Regional Integration Minister Kassahun Gofe and ECX CEO Wondimagegnehu Negera. The minister stated that the new headquarters will feature modern technology for competitive services and support market modernization, foreign trade, and competitiveness.
According to the ECX CEO, the online trading system will enhance accessibility and transparency while ensuring product quality. It will also provide fast services to sellers and buyers regardless of location through an updated modern market.
The ECX, which currently handles 26 products, is modernizing its trading system and adding new products, said the CEO, noting that online trading is part of the Digital Ethiopia 2025 initiative.
