Afreximbank, a pan-African multilateral financial institution established in 1993, supports intra-African and Caribbean trade by providing financing to African governments and businesses. It is headquartered in Cairo, Egypt.
Following a side meeting at the Airline Economics Growth Frontiers Global Conference in Dublin, Ireland, Afreximbank agreed to collaborate with Nigeria on aircraft financing and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting African airlines.
At the event, the development finance institution emphasized its previous support for airlines such as Arik Air and Kenya Airways. The bank plans to establish a leasing subsidiary to acquire 25 aircraft for lease to African airlines, including dry-leased aircraft for Nigerian airlines to enhance their international and domestic services.
Rose also commended Nigerian Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, for raising the country's Cape Town Convention score, indicating the country's adherence to international aircraft financing standards, from 49.5% to 75.5%, citing this as evidence of the country's commitment to fostering an environment conducive to aircraft financing.
