Africa is an important pole in the modern world and one of the priorities of Chinese diplomacy, Chinese leader Xi Jinping said in September.
The People's Republic of China promised to provide $140 million in military aid to Africa, including funding for the training of 6,000 troops and 1,000 police and other law enforcement officials, Nigerian media reported.
“We will work to advance the partnership action for common security and provide 1 billion yuan ($140 million) of grants in military assistance to Africa and help train 6,000 military personnel and 1,000 police and law enforcement personnel for African countries,” Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a joint news conference with his Nigerian counterpart Yusuf Tuggar, as cited by the Nigerian media.

China Pledges Support for Global South Modernization Through Connectivity Initiatives
Wang Yi reiterated China's commitment to ensuring Africa's economic security through development, referring to plans announced at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit in September 2024 to provide Africa with $49 billion in financial support.
