John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress, who previously served one term as president of Ghana (2012-2017), won the country's presidential election on December 7 with 56.55% of the vote, according to Ghana's electoral commission. His closest rival was Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia of the now-former ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was inaugurated as President of Ghana on Tuesday in Accra, succeeding Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The ceremony was attended by numerous African heads of state and government.

Among the dignitaries present were:

Félix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and First Lady Denise Nyakeru
Ali Mahamane Zeine, Prime Minister of Niger
Bola Tinubu, President of Nigeria
Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone
Ibrahim Traoré, Head of State of Burkina Faso
These African leaders arrived at the Kotoka Airport in the Ghanaian capital throughout the preceding days, culminating in their presence at the significant inauguration ceremony.
