AES Finalizes Plan to Establish Common Media Platform
Last September, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali formed the AES to strengthen their collaborative security measures and promote socioeconomic progress for their people. This May, the nations endorsed a preliminary agreement outlining the establishment of a confederation.
The
Alliance of Sahel States (AES) finalized the establishment of a common media platform, a key objective of the workshop held in Bamako that convened the ministers of communication from Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, along with media experts.
The officials approved several key aspects:
The digital portal and the AES Web TV;
The document outlining the fundamentals for creating a TV channel and a radio station;
The proposals for graphic charters.
"These tools will reassure our populations, raise awareness in the international community and reveal media untruths aimed at destabilizing our confederation," said Hamadoun Touré, the Malian Minister of Communications and Digital Economy.
His Burkinabe counterpart, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, urged
experts to propose quality productions to enhance the image of the AES.
Sidi Mohamed Raliou, Niger’s Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, for his part, insisted on the need for coherent and effective communication to strengthen the unity of the three countries.
