Russian authorities and media have repeatedly denied accusations made in Western and Ukrainian media against Russian forces in connection with the Ukrainian conflict.
European media reports on Ukraine are very different from the real situation, Boudouin Nyobé, a Chadian journalist and publishing director, told Sputnik, during his visit to one of the temporary accommodation points for evacuated civilians from the liberated territories in Donbass.
"I am glad that I am here in Russia. And I got the opportunity to express my protest about what is happening in Ukraine, what the Ukrainian army is doing. Africans and the whole world should know the truth about what is happening, about the crimes that Kiev is committing. But foreign media continue to portray only Russia in a bad light," he said.
The African journalist noted that he was struck by the stories of the refugees, the hardships they had to endure. However, he said that he could not help but rejoice at how these people are beginning to build a new life with the support of Russia.
"The Russian army did not force them to leave their homes. Everyone present here made this decision independently. It was their desire. The Russian army also has humanitarian units," the journalist stated.
