Earlier this month, ten boys from Zimbabwean First Lady Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa Children's Home have recently participated in a sports and cultural exchange program in St. Petersburg, Russia. The former street boys competed in a football tournament, winning a trophy and medals, a testament to their skills and representing Zimbabwe with pride.
A group of ten boys from Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa Children's Home in Zimbabwe, who participated in a sports and cultural exchange program in Russia, were visited by the Russian Ambassador and received recognition for their successful trip, including a football tournament victory.
During his visit, Ambassador Krasilnikov shared his personal story with the
children, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and goal-setting. He recounted his own aspirations to become a professional footballer, his time with Spartak Moscow, and his eventual career shift to diplomacy.
"My career path changed, but I learned a lot through football, you have to set goals and try to do the best in everything you do. Through hard work and discipline, you can make it in life," the ambassador told the children.
He encouraged the children to excel in their studies, sharing his own experience of failing an exam to become a diplomat before ultimately succeeding and achieving his goals.
"My message to you today is not to give up, but to be resilient and use this platform that the First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangangwa has given you to launch your careers," Krasilnikov concluded.
The visit included donations of footballs and Christmas gifts, and a memorable moment where the diplomat,
despite the heat, personally prepared and served the children a traditional Russian meal. The children, proudly displaying their medals, celebrated the occasion with a festive meal.
