For the first time, the works of the 10th Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest are being showcased in Tanzania as part of the competition’s international roadshow. The exhibition features 50 captivating photographs by talented young photojournalists from Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Myanmar, Syria, India, and South Africa. These works delve into pressing themes such as environmental challenges, natural disasters, social transformations, the rich ethnographic and cultural diversity of our world, and deeply moving personal narratives. Alexander Yevstigneyev, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Tanzania, highlighted the significance of the event: “It is deeply symbolic that we inaugurate this photo exhibition in Andrei’s memory on the eve of his birthday. For 10 years now, it feels as though he is reborn through it each year."According to Yevstigneyev, Stenin "was an exceptionally fearless journalist who saw it as his mission to reveal the truth about the tragic events in the Middle East and later in Donbass. For him, truth and honesty were not mere lofty ideals but a way of engaging with reality."“Photojournalists from the African continent are among the most dynamic and talented participants in the competition. I am delighted that in this tenth anniversary year, we have the opportunity to host an exhibition in Tanzania for the first time. We hope to see young and gifted Tanzanian photographers among the future laureates of the competition,” the contest curator, Oksana Oleinik, noted at the ceremony. The international roadshow featuring the winning works of the 10th Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest will continue with exhibitions across Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. Submissions for the 11th Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest will open on December 22, 2024—Andrei Stenin’s birthday—on the official competition websites: http://stenincontest.ru (Russian) and http://stenincontest.com (English).

"We appreciate that the organizers chose Tanzania for the first African display of this year’s winning entries. For the first time, our Tanzanian friends will have the opportunity to view the work of outstanding photographers from various countries.
