Burkina Faso has been troubled by intense terrorist activity since 2015. Several international extremist groups operate in the country, including the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara*, which is a structure of the terrorist group Islamic State* and Ansar ul-Islam*.
Algeria is ready to support Burkina Faso in its fight against terrorism and to help maintain and preserve national and regional stability in the country, Selma Bakhta Mansouri, Algeria's Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and responsible for African Affairs, said during the meeting with Burkina Faso's President Ibrahim Traore.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the current state of bilateral relations and the search for ways and means to intensify cooperation in various areas, including socio-economic and humanitarian, Algerian radio reported.
