In February, South African singer Tyla, whose full name is Tyla Laura Seethal, won a Grammy Award in the Best African Music Performance category at the 66th annual Grammy Awards ceremony. She received the prestigious accolade for her song "Water," which is inspired by Amapiano and R&B and gained worldwide attention.
South African sensation Tyla made waves at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) in Los Angeles, securing two prestigious honors. The rising star took home Top Afrobeats Artist and Top Afrobeats Song, where three of her tracks were nominated.
In her acceptance speech, delivered via a video, Tyla humorously remarked:
“Now I must give a whole speech, yoh guys. I did not even know this is all happening, yoh hai, your bad also,” she said.
She expressed gratitude to Billboard, her label Epic Records, her fans (affectionately called Tygers), friends, and family.
