In September, Russia provided the Republic of Congo with diagnostic tests for mpox to support African countries in combating the disease, according to the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare.
Russian human welfare watchdog Rospotrebnadzor is
to send mobile laboratories to seven countries, including African nations, by year-end, said Anna Popova, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, at the 5th International Scientific and Practical Conference on Combating Infectious Diseases.
"Mobile laboratories of various types, equipped with the most modern equipment, allow for diagnostics in remote regions of the country, monitoring of infection hotspots, and conducting epidemiological research in areas of group morbidity. Within 24 hours, they can be delivered anywhere in Russia or the world," she stated.
She reminded that Russia has been supplying laboratories to global partners since 2015, and as of today, 35 of the mobile anti-epidemic laboratories are functioning in 14 countries, where they are greatly needed.
Popova specified that the mobile laboratories will be sent to Ethiopia, Vietnam, Mongolia, the Republic of Congo, and
Madagascar, while portable mobile laboratories will be sent to Kazakhstan and Belarus.
