MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross's staff in Syria include providing tents and household items to those who have fled their homes, as well as medicines for hospitals, the organization said.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is represented in the largest cities of Syria, including Damascus and Aleppo, and its staff is ready to step up its activities in the country to help all those in need, the organization's press service told Sputnik.
In order to be able to provide assistance and protect people in need, the organization needs to maintain constant dialogue with all parties, the ICRC added.
The Syrian armed opposition captured the capital of Damascus on Sunday. Russian officials said that President Bashar al-Assad had stepped down after negotiations with participants of the Syrian conflict, and left Syria for Russia, where he was granted asylum. Mohammed al-Bashir, who ran an Idlib-based administration formed by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and other opposition groups, was named interim prime minister on Tuesday.
