MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The comprehensive agreement signed by Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un during the state visit of the Russian president to North Korea on June aims at strengthening friendship, cooperation, promoting peace and prosperity for both countries.
The agreement on comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and North Korea went into effect on Wednesday, following an exchange of documents between the deputy foreign ministers of the two countries in Moscow, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko and North Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Jong Gyu signed a protocol on the exchange of instruments of ratification, the ministry said in a statement.
"In accordance with Article 22, the treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and North Korea went into effect on December 4, 2024, the date of the exchange of instruments of ratification," the statement read.
The strategic partnership agreement's entry into force will contribute to the development of multifaceted cooperation between the countries, the ministry added.
