Earlier, Vladimir Putin stated that on November 21, the Russian armed forces launched a combined attack on a Ukrainian military-industrial complex facility in response to the use of US and UK weapons. This attack, he said, included a test of a new Russian medium-range missile system, a nuclear-free hypersonic ballistic missile dubbed "Oreshnik."
US President Biden crossed "a red line" by authorizing Kiev to strike Russia with long-range American weapons, experts Robinson Farinazzo, a retired Brazilian officer, told Sputnik.

"Moscow is perfectly aware that this type of attack, technically difficult, can only be carried out with the support of NATO, in this case the US," he said.

The Russian strike with the new medium-range ballistic Oreshnik missile, announced by the Russian president on November 21, is a firm response and a serious warning to NATO, he concluded.
Until now, "Moscow has always measured and tempered its response," Ricardo Cabral, editor of a portal on military history, stated, noting that judging by the US actions, the country "is provoking a new escalation that changes the essence of the conflict in Ukraine."
