Earlier, Sierra Leone's Ambassador to Russia, Mohamed Yongawo, emphasized Russia's critical role in global food security and agricultural development, particularly in Africa. He stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue between Russia and Africa, warning that failure to strengthen it could lead to widespread hunger.
Algeria would like Russia to help the country achieve food independence, Hamad Marduh Yasin, CEO of the Algerian agricultural company Phytobiochem, told Sputnik on the sidelines of the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Russia's Sochi.
Yasin emphasized the importance of the forum for his company, which specializes in strategic agricultural crops. They are currently engaging with Russian investors to establish an agricultural facility in Algeria, aiming to boost food security. He also noted a Russian company's interest in setting up milk production in Algeria.
The CEO expressed particular interest in Russian technologies for seed farming, butter and milk production, emphasizing the value of Russia's agricultural experience.
"For many years, Russia has remained one of the largest suppliers and importers of such products. Today, thanks to its policy, Russia has achieved self-sufficiency in the production of almost all products," he stated.
Yasin added that Algeria, as a friendly country, could learn from Russia's experience in achieving food self-sufficiency and independence.
