Ethiopian Airlines, the country's largest Airbus operator in Africa, has become the first air company in the continent to take delivery of Airbus A350-1000, the press service of the European aircraft maker said.The company added that soon Ethiopian Airlines are set to obtain 14 A350 aircraft, including three A350-1000 and 11 A350-900.Earlier, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced in a speech to the lower house of the parliament in late October that the country has started the construction of Africa's largest airport, capable of handling 100-130 million passengers annually.Local media FANA reported in October that Ethiopian Airlines is further expanding its fleet with 124 new aircraft, consolidating its position as a major aviation hub on the continent. The airline is also expanding its maintenance and overhaul facilities, creating more jobs, and enhancing its operations.

17:22 11.11.2024 (Updated: 13:15 12.11.2024) Ethiopia is implementing a major transformation project in its aviation sector, aiming to become a leading player in global aviation, the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority announced in September.
Ethiopian Airlines, the country's largest Airbus operator in Africa, has become the first air company in the continent to take delivery of Airbus A350-1000, the press service of the European aircraft maker said.
"The first of its kind to be operated by an African-based operator, the A350-1000 will enable Ethiopian Airlines to enhance its premium service on key destinations," the statement of the press service noted.
The company added that soon Ethiopian Airlines are set to obtain 14 A350 aircraft, including three A350-1000 and 11 A350-900.
