Ethiopia's National Air Transport Facility Committee reviewed the Ethiopian airlines performance over the past six months, highlighted its achievements, as reported by Ethiopian state media ENA. Ethiopian Airlines established itself as a top air carrier in the global aviation industry, Ethiopia's Transport and Logistics Minister, Alemu Sime, said, the report noted. New technologies are being implemented to help Ethiopian Airlines sustain and build upon its success, he added.According to the media, the number of passengers transported by the airline has increased by 29% compared to the same period last year, a 14% growth in revenue and a 22% increase in profit were experienced by the company, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mesfin Tassew, revealed.To guarantee the safety and security of the airline, cutting-edge technologies have been implemented, Ethiopian Federal Police Deputy Commissioner General, Zelalem Mengistie said.Ethiopian Airlines currently operates a fleet of 145 aircraft and has already placed orders for new planes, Mesfin disclosed, the outlet said. A strict discipline is maintained by the airline, which promptly resolves any issues that arise, Mesfin underlined.On Wednesday, Boeing revealed that Ethiopian Airlines struck a deal with the company to buy eight new 777-9 passenger airliners, the first sale of the aircraft to any African nation.
