MOSCOW (Sputnik) - CAR has been in conflict since a 2013 coup. Russia sent military instructors in 2018 to help the government fight rebel groups. Moscow has stressed that Russian representatives are not involved in hostilities and were deployed in CAR with the notification of the UN Security Council.
The Central African Republic's authorities have not submitted official requests regarding the increase in the number of Russian military instructors, Russian Charge d'Affaires to the Central African Republic Gennadiy Dominyak told Sputnik.
"At the moment, Central African authorities are satisfied with the current security situation and have not made any official requests for an increase in the number of Russian military instructors," Dominyak said.
Russian military experts made a significant contribution to stabilizing the situation in the border areas of the country, the diplomat added.
He also said that experts believed that the recent lifting of the arms embargo would contribute to improving the combat readiness of the national defense forces.
