The construction of a 390-meter bridge in Dar es Salaam with involvement of Chinese engineers is expected to last two years, Tanzanian media reported. In October, the Tanzanian National Roads Agency (Tanroads) made a deal with China Communications Construction Company Ltd. to realize the project, which will cost Sh97.1 billion (over $359 million), Tanzanian media noted. The report said that the Jangwani area in Dar es Salaam is posed with the threat of heavy rains that often lead to the closure of the Morogoro Road, which serves as a key link to Dar es Salaam’s center. In May, the country's Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said in a statement that around 166 people died in Tanzania as a result of the Cyclone Hidaya; seven individuals were injured.

Construction of Bridge in Tanzania With Involvement of Chinese Company to Last Two Years: Report
According to research, East Africa is highly vulnerable to climate change and this year's rains have been amplified by the El Nino weather pattern — a naturally occurring climate phenomenon typically associated with increased heat globally that leads to drought in some parts of the world and heavy downpours elsewhere.
