Tanzania's Favorable Location Opens Up Great Opportunities: Russian Ministry of Economic Development
10:05 29.10.2024 (Updated: 14:08 27.11.2024) Due to their advantageous location on the East African coast, Tanzania's ports are essential for linking landlocked nations in East and Southern Africa to international markets. Tanzania's potential as a regional commerce hub is increased by its advantageous location along important trade routes.
The advantageous location of Tanzania offers many opportunities for the development of Russian logistics in Africa, Maksim Reshetnikov, Russian minister of economic development, said during the Tanzania – Russia Business and Investment Forum that is taking place in Tanzania's largest city and financial hub, Dar es Salaam.
"The republic could become a single entry point for our products on the African continent, continuing the development of the International North–South Transport Corridor," Reshetnikov noted.
In addition, the minister noted that Russia can contribute to Tanzanian exports to the Eurasian Economic Union market. Moreover, Reshetnikov underscored that Russia and Tanzania have great potential in the field of energy, including renewable energy, the development of peaceful nuclear technology, and mining.
According to the Russian minister, the cooperation between the two countries is also focused on agriculture, pharmaceuticals, digitalization of the
economy, urban environment and tourism.
"We are ready to discuss all this. Together we will resolve issues with settlements and organizing contacts between the banks of our countries," Reshetnikov added.
Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Tanzania Andrey Avetisyan told
Sputnik that
Tanzania is attractive for Russia in the context of creating a major trade hub in the country because of its favorable geographical location and political stability, and
cooperation with the country will further develop Russia's presence on the continent.
