President Emmerson Mnangagwa took office on November 24, 2017, following the resignation of former leader Robert Mugabe. Mnangagwa won a second five-year presidential term in August 2023, which will end in 2028, according to the country's constitution.
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the country's constitution, stating that he will not seek to extend his term beyond 2028, according to Patrick Chinamasa, the ruling ZANU-PF party's secretary for legal affairs.
This comes despite a proposal from members of the ZANU-PF party to extend his tenure to 2030.
