MOSCOW (Sputnik) - At least 20 people were injured and 371 others detained during Thursday's protests in Mozambique, which broke out after the presidential election results were announced, the O Pais newspaper reported on Friday, citing police estimates.
There were police officers among those injured during the protests.
Protesters reportedly blocked roads, burned tires and cars, looted shops, and caused damage to public property, the paper reported.
On Monday, police in the capital of Maputo used tear gas against demonstrators, who gathered at the site where two supporters of opposition leader Venancio Mondlane were killed last week.

Ruling party candidate Daniel Chapo was declared the winner of the October 9 election by the National Election Commission on Thursday. He won over 70% of votes, versus Mondlane's 20.3%.
