MOSCOW (Sputnik) - On September 25, the Russian president stated that Russia may use nuclear weapons if faced with aggression or a critical threat, even by conventional means. This could include the detection of a massive aerospace attack, such as missiles or drones, crossing into Russian territory.
Russia and Belarus' security guarantees agreement will confirm their readiness to use all means to respond to external aggression, including nuclear weapons in exceptional cases, Aleksey Polishchuk, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry's second department for the Commonwealth of Independent States' countries, told Sputnik.

"The agreement will confirm the readiness of Russia and Belarus to use all the forces and means available in their arsenal in response to external aggression. Including, in exceptional cases, nuclear weapons, as stated by Russian President [Vladimir Putin] on September 25 of this year," Polishchuk said.

Furthermore, the future Moscow-Minsk treaty on security guarantees will ensure the defense of the Russia-Belarus Union State amid threats from NATO and Kiev, Polishchuk added.
"The future Russian-Belarusian treaty on security guarantees is aimed at strengthening the mutual allied obligations of our countries to ensure reliable defense and security of the Union State against the backdrop of growing threats from NATO countries and the Kiev regime," he said.
