The Nyamulagira volcano in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has been erupting since Saturday, and the eruption continues, Charles Balagizi, the scientific director of the Goma Volcanological Observatory (OVG), confirmed on Monday.The eruption consists of an overflow of lava from the crater, with lava pouring down the northern, western, and southwestern flanks. The latest satellite images show that one of the three flows has advanced about 7 km, the researcher explained.Normally, Nyamulagira's activities pose no threat to North Kivu's capital.
