By 2025, 100 Zimbabwean Cadets Will Study at Russian Military Universities, Defense Attache Says

More than 30,000 citizens of African countries are currently studying in Russian universities. The updating of existing and the development of new bilateral agreements on the recognition of education with African countries continues. More than 30 such agreements are now in force, a Russian senator said in September.
Zimbabwe plans to increase the number of cadets studying at Russian military universities to 100 by 2025, the country's defense attache and group captain Kingsley Zimbudzana told journalists.
"Our cadets are trained at various military universities in the Russian Federation, including training in logistics and engineering. There are just over 50 now, but in cooperation with the General Staff of the Republic of Zimbabwe, we are now trying to increase this number and approach the number of 100 cadets by next year," Zimbudzana said.
The Zimbabwe Defense Forces are most interested in training pilots and military engineers in Russia, he noted.
Educational cooperation between Zimbabwe and Russia is important for the economic development and modernization of the southern African country, Zimbabwe's Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Torerayi Moyo told Sputnik in June on the sidelines of the Second International Forum of Ministers of Education.
