Russia sees Africa as a natural partner for trade and economic cooperation, according to Pavel Kalmychek, Director of the Department for Bipartite Cooperation Development of Russia's Ministry of Economic Development. Kalmychek emphasizes Russia's collaborative approach to development without exploiting the continent's resources.
Russian exports to Africa grew by 22.48% to $16.3 billion in the first eight months of the year, while imports decreased by 3.37% to $2.2 billion, according to the Russian Federal Customs Service.
During this period, mineral products led Russian exports, reaching $172.6 billion, followed by metals and metal products ($39 billion) and agricultural products ($27.2 billion).

Imports were dominated by machinery, equipment, and vehicles ($90.1 billion), followed by chemical products ($34.2 billion) and agricultural products ($24.2 billion).
