Ethiopian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nebiat Getachew said in late September that Addis Ababa will actively resist any efforts to destabilize the region or hinder its developmental progress, according to an Ethiopian News Agency report.
In his inaugural address at the joint opening session of the House of People's Representatives and House of Federation, newly appointed president Taye Atske Selassie emphasized Ethiopia's continued dedication to peace, security, and regional prosperity, the Ethiopian News Agency reported on Monday.
He highlighted Ethiopia’s unwavering efforts to ensure stability in the Horn of Africa, stating that the country will prioritize the peace and security of its neighbors alongside fostering mutual economic growth.
President Taye underscored Ethiopia’s active role in regional integration, mentioning a recent memorandum of understanding signed with Somaliland that was strongly opposed by Somalia. This agreement, based on mutual benefit, is part of Ethiopia's broader diplomatic strategy to ease tensions and promote cooperation across the region, the report read.
