Citizens from 55 countries can apply for an electronic visa to Russia for tourism, business, or to attend events. The visa allows for a 16-day stay in Russia and costs around $50.
The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are collaborating on the extension of the validity period and number of electronic
visas to Russia for foreign tourists.
"Understanding that Russia is a large country, having come once and seen one place, our guests want to come back and see something else," said Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Vakhrukov at the Eastern Economic Forum session "Far East Tourism: Impressions Generating Investment."
Since the introduction of electronic visas in August 2023, Russia has welcomed over 420,000 foreign tourists using this method by July. This figure is in addition to over a million visitors who arrived under
visa-free group travel agreements with China and Iran.
Vakhrukov also highlighted the importance of strengthening ties with international tourism players and improving transport links.
