This event is a historic milestone, as it marks the first visit of Russian acting and stage speech experts to Zambia in over 60 years of diplomatic relations. While Soviet and Russian professionals in medicine, engineering, and education have often visited the country, performing arts specialists have never made the journey until now.
The Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) arrived in Zambia to participate in the National Arts Festival. It will conduct two master classes: one master class in acting and the second master class in stage speech, explained a GITIS representative.
She expressed the hope that these trainings will assist participants in their future acting careers and also reminded that the institute is always happy to
welcome Zambian students within its walls.
Sputnik Africa also received a comment from Alfred Mwaba, a GITIS third-year
student, who said he is "honored and humbled" by the visit of the Russian delegation to his country.
"Their visit is a true testament to the growing international exchange of ideas and culture, and I am so personally grateful that my country will have a chance to benefit from the knowledge and experience of such prestigious delegates like I have in the past two years," he said.
He also urged Zambians, especially the
youth, to participate in this exchange of knowledge, as he noted that such international interaction is critical for personal growth.
"Take this chance to explore new ideas and broaden your horizons. I strongly believe the visit of the Russian delegates marks an important milestone for our country and highlights the value of international partnerships," he concluded.
