In mid-July, Kenyan police discovered mutilated and dismembered bodies dumped in plastic bags at a rubbish tip in Nairobi. President Ruto expressed deep concern about the gruesome findings, urging for an expedited investigation. He emphasized that the perpetrators of this "heinous" act must be brought to justice and face the full extent of the law.
Kenyan police initiated an extensive manhunt on Tuesday following the escape of a man they stated had confessed to the murders and dismemberment of 42 women from a Nairobi police cell, along with 12 other detainees identified as illegal immigrants.
"An officer and the canteen manager discovered the escape when they went to serve breakfast and found the cell door open," the report seen by local The Standard read.
A preliminary police investigation revealed that the escape was facilitated by insiders.
Acting Police IG Gilbert Masengeli said that the Gigiri Sub-County Police Commander, Officer Commanding Station, and six other officers were suspended following the escape of 13 inmates.

Those Involved in Mysterious Killings in Nairobi to Be Held to Account, Kenya's President Vows
Collins Jumaisi, 33, was apprehended last month after mutilated bodies were found in a garbage dump located in a slum in Nairobi. Last Friday, Jumaisi appeared in court, where the magistrate ordered his detention for an additional 30 days to allow police to complete their investigation.
Last April, Kenya was stunned by the discovery of numerous graves in the Shakahola forest near Malindi, located in the eastern part of the country. Authorities disclosed that the deceased were followers of the Good News International Church, led by Paul Mackenzie, who instructed his adherents to starve themselves in order to reach heaven.
The self-proclaimed pastor appeared in a magistrate's court in the port city of Mombasa last Monday, alongside over 90 other suspects, the media reported. Mackenzie, however, pleaded not guilty.
