Earlier in the day, the Israel Defense Forces conducted a precision strike on the Al Mawasi area near the Gazan city of Khan Yunis, killing over 70 people and injuring nearly 290 others. Cairo “strongly condemns” the Jewish state’s strike on Al Mawasi and urges Israel to “stop neglecting the lives of civilians.” On October 7, 2023, the Palestinian movement Hamas launched a large-scale rocket attack against Israel and breached the border, attacking both civilian neighborhoods and military bases. Nearly 1,200 people in Israel were killed, and some 240 others were abducted during the attack. Israel launched retaliatory strikes, ordered a complete blockade of Gaza, and started a ground incursion into the Palestinian enclave with the declared goal of eliminating Hamas fighters and rescuing the hostages. The death toll in the Gaza Strip has reached 38,400 since last October, while a further 88,400 have been injured, according to the Palestinian enclave's health ministry's estimates.

Israel's Strikes on Civilian Sites in Gaza Complicate Ceasefire Efforts, Cairo Says
10:58 14.07.2024 (Updated: 17:31 15.07.2024) CAIRO (Sputnik) - Israel’s continuing strikes on civilian sites in the Gaza Strip complicate the efforts by mediators toward a ceasefire deal, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, the Israel Defense Forces conducted a
precision strike on the Al Mawasi area near the Gazan city of Khan Yunis, killing over 70 people and injuring nearly 290 others.
“Egypt stresses that these continuing violations against Palestinians heavily complicate the possibility of efforts made to achieve deescalation and a ceasefire,” the ministry said in a statement.
Cairo “strongly condemns” the Jewish state’s strike on Al Mawasi and
urges Israel to “stop neglecting the lives of civilians.”
