On May 31 and June 1, Russian city of Sochi is hosting the Russian Grain Forum 2024, which was organized by the Russian Union of Grain Exporters with the support of the country's Ministry of Agriculture.
Russia can export up to 70 million tonnes of grain in the current agricultural year, including around 53 million tonnes of wheat, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said at the Russian Grain Forum 2024.
At the end of last year, Russian farmers harvested about 150 million tonnes of grain, Dmitry Patrushev said. Russia once again confirmed its status as one of the world's leading grain producers, accounting for 12% of the world's wheat and 14% of its barley, he added.

According to him, such a base will allow the country to meet its own food security benchmarks and continue to develop its exports.
Despite the sanctions and the withdrawal of foreign traders from the market, Russia's exports are increasing, not decreasing, as Patrushev highlighted. Now every fourth consignment of wheat on the world market is of Russian origin, he stressed.
Earlier, Chairman of the Russian Union of Grain Exporters, Eduard Zernin, told Russian media that the share of new markets, including sub-Saharan Africa, in Russia's grain exports has significantly grown.
