In recent weeks, Russian forces have advanced in several areas of the special military operation in Ukraine, taking control of a number of settlements in the Donbass region. On Saturday, Russian forces liberated five settlements in the Kharkov region, killing up to 170 Ukrainian soldiers and capturing 34 others.
Russian troops advanced into the depths of the Ukrainian defense and liberated the settlements of Gatishche, Krasnoye, Morokhovets and Oleynikovo in the Kharkov region, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.

"Units of the 'North' troop grouping advanced deep into the enemy's defenses and liberated the settlements of Gatishche, Krasnoye, Morokhovets and Oleynikovo in the Kharkov region," the ministry said in a statement.

Russian strikes destroyed four Ukrainian Mi-24 helicopters and hit a Mi-8 helicopter near Manvelovka in the Dnepropetrovsk region, a Ukrainian MiG-29 jet was also shot down and anAbrams tank destroyed, the body reportee. Ukrainian losses amounted to 1,500 people in a day, it added.
