MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russian forces liberated five settlements in the Kharkov region, killing up to 170 Ukrainian soldiers and capturing 34 others over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.
"As a result of offensive operations, units of the Sever [North] Group of Forces liberated the villages of Borisovka, Ogurtsovo, Pletenovka, Pylnaya and Strelechya in the Kharkov region," the ministry said.
The battlegroup also hit Ukrainian forces in the areas of the villages of Volchansk, Veseloye, Glubokoye, Neskuchnoye and Krasnoye, the ministry added.
"The enemy's losses for the day amounted to up to 170 soldiers, three armored combat vehicles and four vehicles," the ministry said.
Russian forces destroyed a Czech-made RM-70 Vampire multiple launch rocket system, a French-made Caesar self-propelled howitzer and a Bogdana wheeled self-propelled howitzer, as well as four D-20 howitzers, a D-30 howitzer and a Buk missile system, the ministry noted.

Ukraine Lost Up to 300 Troops in Area of Russia's Zapad Group Operation, Russian Military Says

Ukrainian troops have lost up to 300 servicemen over the past day in the area of responsibility of Russia's Zapad [West] Group of Forces, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The enemy lost up to 300 servicemen, a tank, an armored fighting vehicle, 10 vehicles, a Verba multiple rocket launcher system, two 152-mm Msta-B howitzers and two 122-mm D-30 howitzers during the day. Two field ammunition depots of the Ukrainian armed forces were destroyed," the ministry said.

Moreover, the Russian Vostok [East] Group of Forces took more advantageous lines, eliminating up to 160 Ukrainian service people and two armored vehicles over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.
"The units of the Eastern group of forces occupied more favorable lines and defeated the 58th motorized infantry brigade, the 72nd mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian army, the 102nd territorial defense brigade in the areas of [the town of] Vuhledar, [the villages of] Urozhaine of the Donetsk People's Republic [DPR] and Chervone of the Zaporizhzhia region," the ministry said.
In this direction alone, Kiev lost up to 160 service people, two armored fighting vehicles and five vehicles, as well as a Grad multiple launch rocket system, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery mount and two Msta-B howitzers, as well as a D-20 howitzer, the ministry added.
Meanwhile, the Tsentr [Center] Group of Forces repelled 10 attacks of Ukrainian forces near the villages of Ocheretyne, Semenivka, Soloviove, Netailove and Berdychi in the DPR, the inistry said.
Kiev lost up to 390 service people, five armored fighting vehicles and three vehicles, as well as a US-made M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery system, the ministry noted. Russian forces also eliminated a US-made M777 howitzer, a UK-made AS90 Braveheart self-propelled artillery mount and a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, as well as a two D-30 howitzers and a Bukovel electronic warfare station, the ministry said.
