MOSCOW (Sputnik) - On Sunday, IAEA experts confirmed at least three direct hits on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, IAEA chief Mariano Grossi said. He called the attack on the ZNPP reckless and stated that it increases the risk of a nuclear accident.
Increasingly frequent strikes by the Ukrainian armed forces on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP) may indicate that Ukraine is preparing a provocation against the plant, the communications director of the plant, Evgenia Yashina, said on Tuesday.
"No nuclear plant in the world is designed for such a fire impact by the armed forces. The increased frequency of strikes may indicate that a provocation is being prepared with regard to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant by the Ukrainian armed forces," Yashina said on air of the Rossiya 24 broadcaster.
Yashina added that a Ukrainian drone attack on the building of the training center at the Zaporozhye NPP occurred 10 minutes after representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) monitoring mission passed by the building.
"The attack of the Ukrainian armed forces occurred 10 minutes after IAEA employees who were returning from a planned visit to the external radiation monitoring laboratory passed by the training center," Yashina said.
Plant employees receive training and practice technological operations at the training center, she added.
"As a result of the attack, neither employees nor equipment of this unique center were damaged," Yashina said.

On Sunday, the nuclear plant's press service reported a drone attack on the dome of the sixth power unit. It was noted that there were no critical injuries. Prior to that, it was reported that UAVs had arrived in the area of the canteen, as well as in the area of the cargo port.
IAEA's head Grossi said that Zaporozhye nuclear station was close to a nuclear accident after UAV attack.
