Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a phone conversation with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who expressed his deep condolences in connection with the deadly terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, the Kremlin said on Thursday. Additionally, the leaders expressed satisfaction with the achieved level of strategic partnership between the two countries and discussed a number of issues of practical interaction in the trade, economic, energy and humanitarian areas, the statement read. Putin, in turn, outlined his fundamental assessments of the situation around Ukraine, noting that Russia has always been open to a serious and substantive conversation on a political and diplomatic resolution of the conflict, the statement added.In June 2023, a delegation of African leaders led by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa traveled to both Ukraine and Russia to present their peace initiative on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. In February, it was revealed that new visits to Kiev and Moscow are planned this year.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Condolences continue to pour in over the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue in Russia that claimed the lives of at least 143 people.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a phone conversation with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who expressed his deep condolences in connection with the deadly terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, the Kremlin said on Thursday.
"Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with the president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa. The president of South Africa expressed deep condolences and feelings of solidarity in connection with the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall. He wished strength to the families and friends of the victims and a speedy recovery to the injured," the Kremlin said in a statement.
Additionally, the leaders expressed satisfaction with the achieved level of
strategic partnership between the two countries and discussed a number of issues of practical interaction in the trade, economic, energy and humanitarian areas, the statement read.
"Taking into account the well-known peace initiative of African states to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, Cyril Ramaphosa informed about South Africa’s intention to continue work in this area, taking into account legitimate Russian interests," the Kremlin said.
