Russian Embassy in Equatorial Guinea De Facto Starts Working, Will Open in Coming Weeks: Reports

President Vladimir Putin announced last July the plans to reopen Russian embassies in Burkina Faso and Equatorial Guinea as part of efforts to enhance cooperation with African nations across various sectors. In August 2023, orders in this regard were signed by Russia's Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The Russian embassy in the capital city of Equatorial Guinea, Malabo, is de facto starting to work amd will officially open in the coming weeks, Director of the African Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Vsevolod Tkachenko, said.
"Our temporary group of diplomats has already arrived. The process of selecting a premise is underway. We can consider that de facto embassy begins its work. And the official opening is expected in the next few weeks," he noted.
