MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russian air defense systems were active over Belgorod and the Belgorod region — 10 air targets were shot down as they approached the city, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said late Saturday evening.
Russian air defense systems shot down 19 rockets fired by the Ukrainian armed forces from the Vampire multiple rocket launchers in Russia’s Belgorod Region, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"On March 23, at about 23:00 Moscow time [20:00 GMT], an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack on targets on the territory of the Russian Federation using the RM-70 Vampire multiple launch rocket system was prevented. Nineteen rockets were destroyed by air defense systems over the Belgorod Region," the ministry said.
Yet another attack was carried out on Belgorod Region on Saturday. According to Gladkov, one civilian died, another two were injured.
