Russia's Presidential Election Turnout Exceeds 51%, Election Commission Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The three-day voting in the Russian presidential election started on Friday morning. Over 700 international observers from 106 countries have been accredited to polling stations across the country, including the new territories.
Voter turnout in Russia's presidential election across the country, including via the remote electronic voting system, stands at 51.77% as of 4:20 p.m. Moscow time (13:20 GMT), Nikolay Bulaev, the deputy chairman of the Russian Central Election Commission, said on Saturday.
"[The turnout] as of 4:20 p.m. is 51.77% … including the remote electronic voting system," Bulaev said at a meeting of the Central Election Commission.
The Moscow City Election Commission has not received any complaints about violations affecting the course of voting in the presidential election in the Russian capital, Moscow City Election Commission Chairwoman Olga Kirillova said, adding that the campaign is going "quite peacefully."
Kirillova also said that as of 3:00 pm Saturday, over 3.9 million people had voted in the presidential election in Moscow.
"A total of 3,910,263 ballots were issued, of which 2,985,178 [people] voted remotely, and 928,085 by using a paper ballot," she added.
Meanwhile, over 4 million people voted via the remote electronic voting platform as of 5:30 p.m., according to the data published on the system's website.

A total of 4,190,952 ballots were issued for remote electronic voting, 4,103,807 ballots were accepted, which makes up 86% of the total number of voters registered on the remote voting platform, according to the data.
In addition to incumbent President Vladimir Putin, the candidates include Leonid Slutsky, the chairman of the lower house international affairs committee, Nikolay Kharitonov, the chairman of the lower house Far East and Arctic development committee, and lower house Deputy Chairman Vladislav Davankov.
